Horizon Lines has appointed Richard Rodriguez to vice president and general manager for Puerto Rico.
He will be responsible for all on-island sales and operations, local labor, security, as well as government relations. Formerly, he was the ocean carrier’s port manager in San Juan.
Rodriguez joined Sea-Land, Horizon Lines’ predecessor, in 1993, coming from Meteoro Express, a non-vessel-operating common carrier where he was president. At Sea-Land, he was initially appointed equipment control supervisor, and quickly promoted to other management positions. He was named Horizon’s port manager in 1999.
