Horizon reinstates Jacksonville/San Juan service
U.S. Jones Act operator Horizon Lines is reinstating a midweek service from Jacksonville to Puerto Rico, saying demand has been stronger than expected for this time of the year.
The “Midweek Jacksonville Express” service will resume with the sailing of the “Horizon Crusader” from Jacksonville Aug. 5. The service will sail on Thursdays from Jacksonville and return with a Sunday sailing from San Juan.
“The Midweek Jacksonville Express is generally suspended for the entire summer to coincide with off-peak seasonal demand,” said Gabriel Serra, vice president and general manager, Puerto Rico services at Horizon Lines. He added that Horizon has experienced a strong demand and decided to reinstate the service a month ahead of schedule.
