The “NetCaptain HazDec” Web-based application captures and communicates data required for dangerous goods declarations during the shipping process according to U.S. Department of Transportation and International Maritime Dangerous Goods code requirements. Hazardous cargo is also checked for any compatibility conflicts at the time of document submission.
The online application aims to remove errors, communications costs and lost documents for shippers while improving compliance and maritime safety, according to the Horizon Lines. The HazDec application was developed by Horizon Services Group, Horizon Lines’ information technology subsidiary.
