House funds Oakland deepening project The Port of Oakland said the U.S. House of Representatives has approved $32 million in federal funding for Port of Oakland harbor projects in the fiscal year 2009 Omnibus Appropriations Act.
   The bill still needs Senate and Presidential approval.
   It said $25.1 million would go towards completion of the 50-foot Oakland Harbor Deepening Project and $6.9 million is for routine operations and maintenance of the Oakland harbor. The port said when combined with the $6.8 million included for the project as part of the recently-passed American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and funding for the Port of Oakland, completion of the project is possible by this summer.
