Houston approves funds for Bayport projects

   The Port Commission of the Port of Houston Authority this week approved nearly $4 million for Bayport Container Terminal projects as well as a grant request to help private industry funding diesel engine air emission reduction measures.

   The port also noted that $98.3 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds have been allocated for infrastructure projects at the Houston Ship Channel The port said it hopes to secure an additional $140 million. The funds are needed for work to return the 53-mile channel to its “most efficient depth.”
