How data leads to digitization

Abercrombie & Fitch and NCR Corp. have very different supply chains, but are connected by similar mindsets around data-empowered supply chain digitization initiatives.

The supply chains of Abercrombie & Fitch and NCR Corp. would seem very different at first glance.
One is a famous apparel retailer and the other a manufacturer of consumer transaction hardware, software and electronics. Both have global supply chains, but with very different suppliers, footprints, and transportation networks.
Yet the tie that binds the two companies is the use of data to empower digital supply chain initiatives around sourcing, total landed cost, and visibility. Both companies will be speaking on an American Shipper webinar at 2 pm Thursday, How Digitization Impacts the End-to-End Supply Chain.
For Abercrombie & Fitch, being able to connect the fiber contents of its products downstream to its e-commerce platform created an invaluable data trail. For NCR, building a data-driven landed cost capability enabled the company to make more informed granular decisions around carrier usage.
Both companies saw that data and the digitization of their supply chains was as important as their physical supply chains.
The webinar also will include highlights from recent American Shipper research into data accuracy and visibility and perspective from a logistics technology provider.
