Hurst named to new APL warehousing VP position

APL Logistics Wednesday said John Hurst has been appointed to the newly created position of vice president of warehouse management services in the Americas.

Hurst, an 18-year logistics industry veteran, was managing director for APL Logistics in Atlanta. In his new role, Hurst remains based out of Atlanta and assumes all sales and operational responsibility for APL Logistics subsidiary Warehouse Management Services Inc., a role previously fulfilled by APL Logistics' vice president of logistics. Hurst takes immediate control of an organization with 2,000 employees, 15.2 million square feet of warehouse space in North, Central and South America, and 64 Warehouse Management Services facilities in five countries.

Hurst joined APL Logistics in 1996 as a group general manager in City of Industry, Calif. Prior to joining APL Logistics, Hurst served for seven years with CEVA Logistics.

APL Logistics, with U.S. offices in Oakland, Calif., is the logistics arm of Singapore-based marine transportation giant Neptune Orient Lines.
