Hutchison wins Marseilles terminal concession    The Port of Marseille Fos last week granted Hutchison Port Holdings the rights to develop its Fos 4XL container terminal.
   The decision concludes a more than two-year bidding process for the terminal.
   The proposal from Hong Kong-based HPH, the world's biggest terminal operator in terms of volume, centered around making Marseilles the second of two European hubs, with Rotterdam as the other. Marseilles, as the Mediterranean hub, would be linked by a 'comprehensive multimodal network' to Rotterdam, the port said.
   Plans for the terminal include 1,200-meter quay and 75 hectares of yard space, adding a minimum of 1 million TEUs of capacity to the port.
   'Details of the Fos 4XL operating concession will be discussed in the coming months,' the port authority said. 'Construction and operation of the new terminal will be aligned with market demand and it is not expected that Fos 4XL will start commercial operations before 2017-2018.'
