Hutchison’s Egypt subsidiary celebrates terminals opening

Hutchison’s Egypt subsidiary celebrates terminals opening Egypt’s Alexandria International Container Terminals (AICT), owned by Hutchison Port Holdings (HPH) of Hong Kong, on Sunday held a ceremony to mark the official opening of two new container terminals at the ports of Alexandria and El Dekheila.
   The two terminals have been converted from general cargo facilities to container terminals with a depth alongside of 12 meters (39.4 feet) and quay lengths of 380 meters (1,246.7 feet) and 510 meters (1,673.2 feet) in Alexandra and El Dekheila respectively.
   The new Alexandria terminal commenced operations in March this year while the El Dekheila complex followed shortly afterwards in June.
   The opening ceremony was attended by the Egyptian Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif; along with Eng. Mohamed Mansour, the Minister of Transport; Gen. Adel Labib, the governor of Alexandria; Adm. Ibrahim Youssef, chairman of the Alexandria Port Authority; and John Meredith, group managing director of HPH.
