IAG Cargo adds new European service

With EuroConnector, the carrier hopes to shift cargo off the roads into narrow-body planes.    IAG Cargo has unveiled a time-definite option for shipping freight through Europe that will help service demand during the peak season by optimizing the carrier’s short-haul fleet, it said.
   With EuroConnector, the carrier is targeting shippers currently using trucking networks and trying to convince them to move over to narrow-body aircraft for shipments weighing less than 300 kilograms, according to a press statement.  Shipments will be routed through London, Barcelona or Madrid.
   “EuroConnector offers global businesses a choice of time-definite, cost-effective solutions for shipping goods into, around and out of Europe,” Steve Gunning, IAG Cargo’s chief executive officer, said. “Innovative services such as EuroConnector will prove hugely important to our continued long-term success, improving capacity utilization and helping us grow market share.”
