IAG Cargo prepares for surge in holiday cargo traffic

The airline group has taken measures to ensure goods are shipped in time for the holiday season.    IAG Cargo has taken several measures to ensure goods are shipped in time for the holiday season, the airline group said.
   The airline group enhanced its operations for the holiday season by providing customers with 2,000 new same-day connections through its London-Heathrow hub; eight new secure trucks at Heathrow to assist with last-minute, high-value shipments; and an increase in capacity at its Premia cargo facility at Heathrow to accommodate the expected surge in small package shipments.
   The holiday season has grown dramatically over the past decade, and Black Friday is now a key shopping date around the world, with Cyber Monday “gaining traction,” IAG Cargo Head of Commercial David Shepherd explained. 
   “In terms of tonnage flown, we predict our busiest days to be the first two weekends in December, during which time, IAG Cargo is expecting to see a daily increase of up to 30 percent in volumes flown compared to on an average day,” he said.
