IAG Cargo volumes up in Q3

The carrier saw a volume rise of 12 percent compared to Q3 2013.    Volumes rose 12 percent, year-over-year, during the third quarter at IAG Cargo on a 4.1-percent increase in capacity.
   Cargo volume ended the three-month period at 1,331 million cargo ton kilometers.   
   IAG Cargo reported third quarter commercial revenues of 236 million euros, a drop of 20 million euros from the same period in 2013.
   The carrier said, however, that after adjustment, revenues actually climbed by 7.6 percent, year-over-year.
   “This is a positive third quarter for the business, and we’ve seen good load-factor improvements across markets, despite an increase in capacity,” Steve Gunning, IAG Cargo’s chief executive officer, said in a statement. “The strong performance of our premium products has offset continued underlying price pressure. … While we have seen a decrease in yield, this is primarily due to flying increased sector lengths. More generally, while trading is good, there are still fundamental issues with the market in terms of excess capacity.”
