IAG returns to Sri Lanka

   On April 15, IAG will commence Boeing 777 passenger flights to Colombo, Sri Lanka, restarting its service to the country after a 15-year absence.
   The thrice-weekly service will be routed through the Maldives. IAG is the two-year-old amalgamation of British Airways and Iberia.  
   IAG Cargo officials expect plane belly loads of fruits, vegetables, high-end retail and rubber to be loaded onto the flights.
   “We have always had a strong bond with the Sri Lankan market and our announcement to return to the country has been met with excitement and warmth that is symbolic of the country,” IAG’s Pravin Singh said in a statement. “Our flights will provide the much needed direct lift into the United Kingdom with quick access to our vast network via our bespoke product portfolio.”
   IAG is set to report its March capacity and traffic statistics Thursday. – Jon Ross
