IAG sees continued cargo decline in July

   International Airlines Group transported 468 million tons of cargo during July, an 8.6-percent drop from the same month in 2012.
   So far this year, the airline group has carried 3.2 billion tons of cargo compared to 3.5 billion tons of cargo during the first seven months of 2012.
   Revenue ton kilometers also dropped in July, falling 6.3 percent. During the same period, capacity declined 3.6 percent. On the year, revenue ton kilometers are down 3.8 percent, and capacity has fallen 2.7 percent. In July, the overall load factor was off 2.2 points; the load factor in the first seven months of the year is off by 0.9 points.
   As parts of the whole, Iberia turned in a 16.3 percent decline in cargo volume during the month and a 15.7 percent decline so far this year. British Airway’s cargo activity was off 6.9 percent for the month and 6.7 percent for the year. – Jon Ross
