IBM, MANHATTAN ASSOCIATES FORM ALLIANCE

IBM, MANHATTAN ASSOCIATES FORM ALLIANCE    IBM and Manhattan Associates Inc. said Tuesday they have formed an alliance to jointly market Manhattan's supply chain execution and collaborative commerce solution products on IBM hardware and software.
   The alliance will target midmarket manufacturers, suppliers and distributors in the consumer goods manufacturing, apparel and footwear, Internet fulfillment, hard goods and durables distribution, automotive after-market, media and third-party logistics markets.
   Somers, N.Y.-based IBM said the alliance is part of an initiative to broaden independent software vendors' markets through IBM's marketing, sales and solutions resources, in exchange for commitments to lead with IBM's middlewear, server platforms and services. Other alliance partners include Siebel Systems, Vignette, PeopleSoft and SynQuest.
   Manhattan Associates, which recently relocated to Atlanta from Manhattan Beach, Calif., has licensed more than 750 customers representing 1,100 facilities worldwide.
