The International Civil Aviation Organization, in collaboration with the major aviation and safety organizations around the world, has released an updated Runway Safety Implementation Kit, which provides updated safety guidance and resources developed from the group’s Runway Safety Programme.
ICAO also plans to bring safety teams to key airports around the world to help fine-tune runway safety strategies, and the agency will also hold Regional Runway Safety Seminars in the Middle East and Africa.
“The ICAO Runway Safety Programme is one of global aviation’s best examples of how collaborative efforts on behalf of the world’s states and leading aviation organizations can deliver practical, cost-effective results on the very complex, multidisciplinary challenges facing our sector,” ICAO Council president, Olumuyiwa Benard Aliu, said in a statement. “ICAO and its partners in this area remain fully committed to delivering continuous improvement on global aviation safety results and to lowering runway-associated fatalities.”
