ICL starts Wilmington calls

ICL starts Wilmington calls    North Carolina State Ports Authority said Independent Container Line vessels have begun calling at its terminal in the Port of Wilmington.
   The 550-foot Independent Pursuit inaugurated service between North Carolina and North Europe and the United Kingdom on Thursday. The port said it expects the service to be attractive to automotive and construction equipment makers, as well as the high-tech, textile, chemical and forest products trades.
   'Operating out of Wilmington also allows us to expand our reach into the rapidly growing southeastern U.S. market,' said John Kirkland, chief executive officer of the carrier.
   The four ICL vessels in the service each have a 1450 TEU capacity and operate in a transatlantic loop that calls at the ports of Chester, Pa., Antwerp and Liverpool.
