iContainers launches automatic notification system

The Barcelona, Spain-based non-vessel-operating common carrier and freight forwarder has implemented automatic notifications via email to update customers at each milestone of the ocean freight transportation process.

Barcelona, Spain-based online freight forwarder iContainers has launched an instant notifications system that automatically notifies shippers of their ocean freight shipments status, the company said in a statement.
Shippers will receive automatic instant notifications via email regarding their cargo status throughout the entire ocean freight process. Emails will be sent out as soon as a customer’s cargo crosses a specified milestone, which include cargo loading, drop off, vessel departure and arrival, and more.
Automatic updates means shippers will no longer have to get in touch with shipping companies or freight forwarders to find out the state and location of their merchandise, said iContainers.
iContainers’ new notifications system complements its Track & Trace service, launched just two months ago. That tool allows shippers to view all their updated shipment status in one view without having to sign into multiple carriers’ websites.
The freight forwarder is also currently working on SMS and application push notifications for release later this year, according to iContainers.
