ICTSI, PSA inaugurate joint venture terminal in Colombia

The new terminal at the Port of Buenaventura can handled 18,000-TEU containerships.

International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) and PSA International (PSA) said they have inaugurated the Puerto Aguadulce terminal at Colombia’s Port of Buenaventura.
The terminal is operated by their joint venture company, Sociedad Puerto Industrial de Aguadulce.
The terminal can handle mega containerships of up to 18,000 TEUs, and is equipped with neo post-Panamax quay cranes.
Costing a total of $550 million, phase one of the development gives the terminal an annual handling capacity of 550,000 TEUs with two container berths. The bulk terminal will have a capacity of two million tons annually.
The agreement to jointly develop, construct and operate the terminal was signed in 2013 with the soft opening occurring in November 2016. The MSC Sasha was the first to call the terminal in late November.
