ICTSI wins terminal concession near Chennai
Manila-based global terminal operator International Container Terminal Services, Inc. said Thursday it has won a concession to operate a terminal near Chennai, India.
The project, ICTSI's first in India, partners with domestic engineering and construction giant Larsen & Toubro Ltd. and the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corp. on a 1.2 million-TEU container terminal and shipbuilding complex.
The terminal is to begin operations in January. It will have two 350-meter berths and 50 acres of space. A second phase, if demand requires, could add another 600,000 TEUs of annual handling capacity.
