iGPS expands operations    Intelligent Global Pooling Systems, an all-plastic pallet pool operator, is nearing completion of a new research and development center in Bentonville, Ark.
   In addition, the company has completed construction of its new Global Customer Support and Logistics Center in Orlando, Fla., consolidating all of its customer service and logistics personnel at the new facility.
   'Our business has grown rapidly over the past four years, and so have we,' said Bob Moore, chairman and chief executive officer of iGPS, in a statement. 'We are making these significant investments because we know that the supply chain demands continuous improvement and our customers expect us to be in the forefront of these changes.'

   In specific, the R&D center in Bentonville will allow iGPS to 'take advantage of the proximity of so many consumer goods and pharmaceutical manufacturers located in Northwest Arkansas, as well as leading supply chain technology and electronics providers in the area,' Moore said.
   iGPS, which started operations in 2007 by offering a standardized plastic pallet traceable by radio frequency identification tags, has made significant inroads among shippers in the food and beverages industry. The company has touted its pallets as easier to clean and 30 percent lighter than traditional wood pallets.
