IJS Global expansion campaign reaches Brazil
Ocean and air freight forwarder IJS Global Inc. said it has opened an office in Sao Paulo, Brazil, the first step in its planned expansion throughout Latin America.
Luiz Figueira, a 15-year logistics veteran, will head IJS Global’s Latin American operations, which includes full responsibility for Brazil. Until recently, Figueira was Brazil country manager for Exel, now part of DHL. Before that, he spent four years in Brazil working for EGL Inc. and 10 years for the former Air Express International Corp., also now part of DHL.
The move into Latin America follows on the heels of IJS’s October purchases of Singaporean freight forwarder Freightmen and Transfairways BV, a Dutch logistics provider specializing in project forwarding.
IJS is based in Stamford, Conn.
