IJS Global opens Chicago facility

IJS Global opens Chicago facility IJS Global, a freight forwarder, customs broker and non-vessel operating common carrier, has opened a full-service facility near Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport, its eighth in the office in the United States.
   The 14,000-square-foot facility in Elk Grove Village, Ill. Handles both international and domestic operations for the Midwest region and is managed by Pete Smith, a 27-year industry veteran.
   John Gallahan, IJS's chief executive officer for Asia Pacific and Americas, noted Chicago is a key origin and destination point for international trade, saying one-third of the nation’s GDP — a sizable portion of which is shipped for export, is produced within 300 miles.
