Ike pounds Cuba Hurricane Ike is pounding Cuba, and the National Hurricane Center said a tropical storm warning is in effect for the Florida Keys southward to the Dry Tortugas, including Florida Bay.
   The center said, “Some weakening is likely as Ike crosses western Cuba during the next several hours, but restrengthening is expected once Ike moves into the Gulf of Mexico.'
   Sunday the Coast Guard Captain of the Port in New Orleans ordered the immediate removal of all vessels moored in the Inner Harbor Navigational Canal (IHNC) in anticipation of Hurricane Ike’s possible landfall in the region. But the latest projected tracks for the storm shows Hurricane Ike moving south of ports such as Mobile, New Orleans and making landfall Saturday morning in south or central Texas or northern Mexico.
