ILWU, PMA REACH TENTATIVE EMISSIONS ACCORD

The International Longshore & Warehouse Union said its safety committee had reached a tentative agreement on Friday with negotiators from the Pacific Maritime Association on a plan to reduce diesel emissions.

“That was important item for the union,” said Steve Stallone, a ILWU spokesman.

The ILWU’s technology subcommittee met with the PMA on Sunday to “talk about issues,” Stallone said. “At this point, it’s more productive to work in the subcommittee for the level of detail you can get,” he explained.

The PMA was unavailable for comment on Monday.
