Inchcape to handle 10,000 port calls for ExxonMobil

The shipping agency group Inchcape Shipping Services has won a global contract from Standard Tankers Bahamas Ltd., an affiliate of ExxonMobil, to act as agent for about 10,000 port calls a year worldwide.

The global agency agreement will commence on Sept. 1.

Inchcape recently announced a plan to double its revenue from port agency activities by 2005. The agency group currently handles 40,000 port calls a year worldwide.

The ExxonMobil contract marks “a substantial step” towards that objective, a spokesman for the agency group said.

“After an analysis of various options, it was decided that Inchcape Shipping Services provided the best competitive solution for enhancing the global management of Standard Tankers Bahamas’ port related operations, ” said John Bree, manager, scheduling and dispatch for ExxonMobil.
