Industry experts fill DOT aviation committee

Industry experts fill DOT aviation committee    Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood last week named a panel of experts from academia and the private sector to provide advice on modernizing the nation's aviation system and improving the health of the airline industry.
   Last week, LaHood announced the members of the Future of Aviation Advisory Committee, which will provide recommendations in the areas of aviation safety, labor, competitiveness and survival, funding aviation systems and reducing environmental impact. The committee will meet at least four times during the next year before turning in its ideas.
      Committee members include:
   ' Robert Lekites, president of UPS Airlines.
   ' Greg Tilton, chairman and chief executive officer of United Airlines.
   ' Susan Baer, director of aviation for the Port Authority of New York-New Jersey.
   The first meeting will take place on May 25 at DOT headquarters in Washington.
