Industry expresses outrage over trucking ad

   Negative responses from the trucking industry about a full-page ad that characterized tractor trailers as “serial killers” has convinced Maxim magazine to pull the ad in its current digital edition.
   Though the issue is currently on newsstands, magazine officials said they will also offer a similar pro-trucking ad in the next edition, stated Bill Graves, American Trucking Associations’ president and chief executive officer.
   “The swift response of the industry, and Maxim’s equally swift response demonstrate clearly how formidable the industry can be when telling its very positive, very compelling story,” he continued.  “If this is an indication of how powerful the new industry-wide image movement, Trucking Moves America Forward, will be, the industry’s voice will be loud and clear.”
   Truck stop chains also took offense to the ad. In a tweet, TravelCenters of America said it “destroyed” all copies of the Maxim issue.
