Info-X partners with INTTRA on VGM tool

The rate management and outsourced logistics services provider will use INTTRA’s eVGM capability to allow customers to comply with the July 1 container weight mandate.

The logistics software and outsourced solutions provider Info-X Software Technology said Friday it will use INTTRA’s electronic verified gross mass (VGM) product to allow its customers to submit container weight data to carriers.
Info-X, which provides rate and contract management software as well as back office support staff to non-vessel-operating common carriers and forwarders, will integrate INTTRA’s eVGM product to allow its customer to comply with a forthcoming rule requiring shippers and consolidators to verify the weights of their containers. The VGM rule, an amendment to the existing Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) convention, goes into effect globally July 1.
Info-X, which has partnered with INTTRA for other functions, said the VGM alliance will equip its customers with the ability to submit VGM data under multiple weighing and container packing scenarios without requiring changes to the process of booking containers or providing shipping instructions.
“Info-X has always strived to be ahead of the competition and take initiatives in providing the state-of-the art tools in its software applications and back office services, that provide maximum leverage to its customers for improving their efficiencies,” Info-X CEO Rishi Parti said. “We value this alliance with INTTRA that is another step in this direction and that will provide speedy statutory compliance with SOLAS VGM.”
INTTRA is the largest ocean freight booking platform globally, with roughly a quarter of all ocean freight booking and shipping transactions occurring via its portal.
