Infor boosts Russian railcar plant

   Infor, a provider of business application software, said that Russia’s Tikhvin Freight Car Building Plant JSC has automated its plant operations using the company’s Infor10 ERP Enterprise.    The Infor10 system is designed to support industrial engineering and manufacturing (IE&M) supply chains in the areas of production, marketing, purchasing, visibility, stock control, logistics, and after-sales service. Infor said it has more than 70,000 customers.
   By deploying the system, the Tikhvin plant can unify its third-party applications and provides event monitoring and management. The plant has also integrated its barcode system to support online production and logistics reporting.
   Infor said it created a plant-wide information system with the help of its channel partner IPL Consulting. So far, Infor said the plant has modernized its IT infrastructure by integrating its railcar production building and foundry into a single processing facility. The plant said this move has led to more efficiency, a reduction in its business complexity, and has laid the groundwork for upcoming expansion.
   Tikhvin is a town and also the administrative center of the Tikhvinsky District of Leningrad Oblast in Russia. It’s location on both banks of the Tikhvinka River and proximity to St. Petersburg make it an industrial and transportation hub for the district.
