Ingram Micro appoints new board chair

   Santa Ana-based technology wholesaler Ingram Micro Inc. Tuesday said it has appointed Dale Laurance as the firm's chairman of the board, replacing retiring chair Kent Foster.

   Foster, board chairman for the past seven years, will serve through June 6.

   Laurance is owner of Laurance Enterprises LLC, a private consulting and investment firm. He retired from Occidental Petroleum Corp. in December 2004, where he had served as president since 1996 and a director since 1990.

   The company offers a broad array of services to nearly 165,000 resellers in 100 countries by distributing and marketing hundreds of thousands of information technology products worldwide from nearly 1,400 suppliers.
