Insurer targets terminal operators
Great American Insurance Group's ocean marine division has created a package of specialized insurance coverages for marine terminal operators, nicknamed the TOPS program.
The new program offers marine liability, property, equipment, vessel pollution and other basic coverages as a packaged product that provides comprehensive protection from a single insurance carrier.
Great American says terminal operators must often place different risks with different carriers, since few offer coverage broad enough to include them all.
Great American says it is trying to combine the convenience of “one stop shopping” with its depth of niche expertise and financial strength.
The Cincinnati, Ohio-based company said flexible coverages are designed for port authorities, terminal operators, stevedores, cargo handlers, wharfingers, freight forwarders and similar businesses.
