INTELLITRANS TO MANAGE MTMC RAIL CAR OPERATIONS

INTELLITRANS TO MANAGE MTMC RAIL CAR OPERATIONS    IntelliTrans has been awarded a contract to manage the U.S. Military Traffic Management Command’s rail car operations.
   The contract will require the Atlanta-based firm to cover all management, ordering and maintenance associated with MTMC’s 2,300 flatcars and tankcars. It will require IntelliTrans to order and manage railcars for military customers from commercial carriers.
   IntelliTrans will also provide Defense Department shippers with forecasting, car-loading, in-transit visibility and data collection capabilities.
   The contract will run for 24 months and will have three one-year renewable options. The 24-month contract base period is valued at $1.9 million.
   For MTMC, the surface transportation logistics management agency for the armed forces, the contract will allow it to reduce the management staff involved in rail operations and better meet surge rail capacity requirements during contingencies.
