Intermarine expands project cargo service in Asia

Intermarine expands project cargo service in Asia Intermarine said Friday that in response to Asia's fast growing project transportation market, it is providing on-demand heavy-lift service along the entire Asia coast from Japan, Korea and China in the East, to the Arabian Gulf nations in the West and points in between.
'We have positioned to Asia several of our Century-class vessels capable of 400-metric-ton self-sustained lifts,' said Richard Seeg, Intermarine's Asia area manager. 'These vessels are perfectly suited to meet the needs of new oil and gas facilities in the Middle East, power generation plants in Southeast Asia, and infrastructure development projects across the continent. With a voyage frequency of twice monthly, we are able to provide service virtually on demand.'
The Century-class vessels are 8,000-deadweight-ton ships equipped with twin 200-metric-ton cranes combinable for 400-ton lifts, box holds, and adjustable 'tweendecks. Designed without transverse bulkheads, the vessels' configuration minimize cargo handling expense, maximize cargo safety and can accommodate underdeck components up to 70 meters long, the carrier said in a statement.
The new Far East, India and Gulf service is managed by Seeg from the company's Asian headquarters office in Shanghai.
