Intermarine plans rate hike
Intermarine, managing agent for Industrial Maritime Carriers, said the carrier will implement a general rate increase on all its services to and from South America, effective Sept. 14.
Spokesman Alberto Mejia said the breakbulk increase will be $10 per ton weight or measure. Container rates will go up a similar amount.
He said the rate hike was due to increased stevedoring and other costs. He said this was the first general rate increase for the New Orleans-based carrier in about four years.
