INTTRA marks Latin America milestone

INTTRA, which provides information technology services for ocean carriers and their customers, said Monday Latin American exporters are now using the INTTRA e-commerce platform for more than 100,000 containers a month.

INTTRA managing director-Latin America region Jim Freeman said his company is seeing a widespread adoption of e-commerce in Brazil, Chile and Argentina, while the practices are also gaining momentum in Uruguay, Mexico, Peru, Panama, and Colombia.

He said INTTRA-affiliated carriers Hamburg S'd, Alian'a, MSC, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd, Maersk Line, and Safmarine, “have been pivotal in helping their customers achieve this important ‘100K’ milestone.'

He added: “This impressive milestone is one to be shared by the entire shipping community.    A lot of credit goes to the exporters and their carriers, particularly Hamburg S'd, who early on saw the advantages that e-commerce could offer and quickly embraced them. Everyone understands that technology alone does not create success; there is a significant element of change management involved.”
