IPBCC carriers to raise rates from Med
Carriers in the India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Ceylon Conference said Monday they plan an eastbound rate increase for cargo moving from ports in the Mediterranean to the Indian subcontinent region.
“All member lines face considerable increases in costs, and delays and congestion continue to have a detrimental effect on the carrier’s ability to operate efficiently,” the IPBCC said in a statement.
The rate increase, effective Nov. 1 through March 31, will be $50 per 20-foot container and $100 per 40-foot container. The conference said its members will keep under review ancillary tariff items such as special equipment additionals and surcharges.
Carriers participating in IPBCC are ANL, CMA-CGM, Hapag Lloyd, Evergreen Marine, Hamburg Sud, “K” Line, MacAndrews, Maersk Line, MISC Berhad, CSAV Norasia, Pakistan National Shipping Corp., Rickmers-Linie, Safmarine, Shipping Corp. of India, United Arab Shipping Co., Yang Ming Line and Zim.
