IPBCC drops Rotterdam congestion surcharge

IPBCC drops Rotterdam congestion surcharge Carriers in the India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Ceylon Conference Wednesday withdrew their 35 euro ($48) per TEU feeder congestion surcharge relating to the Port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands.
   The conference introduced the surcharge in March in response to crippling congestion at the Dutch port.
   “Member lines are pleased to inform their customers that the situation has now eased considerably,” the IPBCC said in a statement. “IPBCC lines will continue to monitor the situation closely, and reserve the right to reintroduce a surcharge should this again become necessary.”
   Carriers participating in IPBCC are ANL, CMA-CGM, Hapag Lloyd, Evergreen Marine, Hamburg Sud, 'K' Line, MacAndrews, Maersk Line, MISC Berhad, CSAV Norasia, Pakistan National Shipping Corp., Rickmers-Linie, Safmarine, Shipping Corp. of India, United Arab Shipping Co., Yang Ming and Zim.
