Israel to get private port

Israel Shipyards will open a private terminal in Haifa.

The Israeli newspaper Globes and Web site ynetnews.com report that the terminal will be the first privately operated port in the country, a development made possible by port reforms.

Reportedly the terminal will be able to handle up 200,000 tons of cargo annually. The first ship, carrying 9,000 tons of sugar is reportedly due to tie up next month.
