ITALIA LINE ADDS SAN JUAN TO MED PACIFIC SERVICE

   CP Ships subsidiary Italia Line is adding a direct call at San Juan, Puerto Rico, to its “Med Pacific Express” service.

   The 2,470 TEU vessel “Cielo del Canada” will make the first call at San Juan on Jan. 16. The transit time from the Mediterranean to San Juan will be nine days.

   Contship Container Lines, Lykes Lines and TMM Lines, also owned by CP Ships, take space on the service. Zim Israel Navigation Co. offers the service to shippers between the Mediterranean and North America West Coast ports.

   The “Med Pacific Express” uses six ships averaging 2,367 TEUs and has a sailing frequency of every 10 days. The revised port rotation is Valencia; Leghorn; Genoa; Fos; San Juan; Cartagena; Long Beach, Calif; Vancouver, B.C.; Portland, Ore; Oakland, Calif; Long Beach; Mazatlan, Mexico; Manzanillo, Mexico; Puerto Quetzal; Puerto Caldera; Manzanillo, Panama; Cartagena; Puerto Cabello; Valencia; Leghorn; Genoa and Fos.
