ITALIA, TMM, LYKES EXTEND WEST COAST OF SOUTH AMERICA SERVICES

Italia, TMM Lines and Lykes Lines, three subsidiaries of the CP Ships group, have revised a former Italia service between Colombia and the West Coast of South America to become a joint service connecting the U.S. Gulf, Central America, Colombia and the West Coast of South America.

CP Ships completed the takeover of Italia in August.

The joint five-ship service now also allows TMM and Lykes to offer a direct service between the U.S. Gulf, Central America and West Coast of South America. Lykes’ participation in this service starts on Thursday (Sept. 19).

With a frequency of 10 days, the service utilizes five 1,500-TEU ships, all with reefer capacity. The full port rotation is: Houston, New Orleans, Miami, Puerto Cortes, Puerto Lim'n, Cartagena, Guayaquil, Callao, Valparaiso, Lirquen, Ilo, Callao, Guayaquil, Cartagena, Barranquilla, Puerto Lim'n, Puerto Cortes and Houston.

Details of the revised South American service and of other liner services in this trade are posted on the global liner shipping database ComPairData at www.compairdata.com .
