The new terminal encompasses 10 units spanning 20,000 square feet each and five cereal silos. Large truck parking areas and 2.5 kilometers of rail sidings connected to the national rail system are also part of the development.
According to a press release, Sinergy officials will offer pick/pack and labeling; warehousing; storage; consolidation and break bulk; dry bulk handling; customs clearance and bonded storage; and ocean container loading, unloading and storage services from the new location. Document management and archiving is also being provided at the facility. Both domestic and international freight traffic route through the facility, as it has been approved to receive shipments originating within and outside the European Union.
Six major book publishers are already using the terminal and are taking advantage of Singergy’s warehousing, order fulfillment and management capabilities.
“The Sinergy Cargo Terminal has greatly expanded our capabilities, enabling us to add a number of new services for our freight agent customers,” Marco Cavalieri, Sinergy’s managing director, said in a statement. “The location of the facility is ideal, providing a receiving and hand-out center which is unaffacted by traffic congestion around Genoa city and port, is within easy reach of Italy’s main industrial centres, and is very well connected by road or rail to the rest of Europe.”
