ITC says GOES imports from China, three other countries harmless

As a result of the ITC’s decision, no antidumping or countervailing duty orders will be issued on imports of this product from these countries.    The U.S. International Trade Commission has determined that domestic manufacturers of grain-oriented electrical steel (GOES) are not harmed by imports from China, Czech Republic, Korea, and Russia, although the Commerce Department previously determined these imports are sold in the United States at less than fair value and from China are subsidized.
   As a result of the ITC’s decision, no antidumping or countervailing duty orders will be issued on imports of this product from the four countries.
   Petitioners for the investigations were AK Steel Corp. in West Chester, Ohio; Allegheny Ludlum of Pittsburgh; and the United Steel Workers also in Pittsburgh. 
   Imports of GOES from China, Czech Republic, Korea and Russia in 2013 were valued at $23.3 million, ITC noted.
