ITC seeks input on U.S.-Chile FTA origin rules modification

The U.S. International Trade Commission has requested input on a new investigation concerning proposed modifications to the U.S.-Chile Free Trade Agreement’s rules of origin.    The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) has requested input on a new investigation concerning proposed modifications to the U.S.-Chile Free Trade Agreement’s rules of origin.
In late May, the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) requested the investigation, known as the Probable Economic Effect of Certain Modifications to the U.S.-Chile FTA Rules of Origin. The request specifically covers origin rules pertaining to woven fabric made of artificial filament yarns.
The ITC expects to submit its advice to the USTR by Aug. 24. “A public version of the report, with all confidential business information deleted, will be released as soon as possible thereafter,” the factfinding agency said.
Anyone that wishes to make a written statement regarding the FTA modifications must submit those to the following address: Secretary, U.S. International Trade Commission, 500 E Street SW, Washington, D.C. 20436, by July 11. No public hearing will be held in relation to this investigation, the ITC said.
