ITC to study beef trade The U.S. Senate Finance Committee has asked the International Trade Commission to conduct an investigation into the effects of animal health, sanitary and food safety measures on the global beef trade.
   The ITC will also provide information on other barriers to U.S. beef exports in major destination markets, including high tariffs, quotas, and import licensing and distribution systems, and an analysis of the economic effects that these measures have on the U.S. beef industry.
   The ITC plans to hold hearing related to the investigation at its Washington headquarters on Nov. 15. For more details access ITC’s Web site at www.usitc.gov.
   The ITC will submit a report to the Senate committee by June 6, 2008.
