ITOCHU PICKS GATX LOGISTICS IN NORTH AMERICA

Itochu Corp., a Japanese trading company, has formed a strategic alliance with GATX Logistics, based in Jacksonville, Fla. GATX will handle Itochu’s contract logistics services between North America and Asia. Both companies will work jointly to expand their e-commerce activities.

“We will be working with Itochu to represent several of their global clients who have need of supply chain support services,” said Joseph A. Nicosia, president and chief executive officer of GATX.

Earlier this year, GATX Logistics launched GATX eLogistics, which integrated one-stop solutions for back-end support. In September, Itochu started Logi-Gate.com., an Asian transportation and delivery service. GATX eLogistics will be a link for Logi-Gate to expand its services in the U.S.
