J.B. Hunt reports higher earnings
J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. Wednesday said its first quarter net profit improved to $37.5 million from $30.8 million in the same 2009 period.
Operating revenue for the quarter increased 17 percent to $845 million from $723 million for the first quarter 2009.
The company said intermodal revenue was up 20 percent on a 21 percent increase in load volume. Dedicated contract service revenue improved 16 percent, and truck revenue was up 11 percent and returned to profitability. Its integrated capacity solutions business saw revenue increase 8 percent, but the segment's operating income fell 72 percent.
