Jack Muhs named head of FedEx Trade Networks

   FedEx Trade Networks has named Jack Muhs president and chief executive officer, replacing Fred Schardt, who retired after leading the freight forwarding arm of FedEx since October 2009.
   According to FedEx, Schardt stepped down after more than 42 years in the business to spend more time with family.
   Muhs, who started his career as a flight operator for FedEx in 1984, experienced an “organic” rise up the ranks, according to FedEx. Before he joined the trade networks side of the business, Muhs was FedEx Express’ senior vice president of U.S. International, Global Planning, Engineering and Trade Services.
   “FedEx Trade Networks has experienced impressive growth since beginning its global expansion, and I look forward to continuing the momentum to provide customers around the globe with unique FedEx freight forwarding solutions,” Muhs said in a statement.
