Jacksonville-bound cranes squeeze under bridge

A vessel carrying two new post-Panamax container cranes arrived in Jacksonville, Fla. June 18.

The cranes aboard the vessel were bound for the Jacksonville Port Authority’s new TraPac Container Terminal — and cleared the Dames Point Bridge by about seven feet.

The Dock Express 10 moves under the Dames Point Bridge, carrying two post-Panamax cranes for Jacksonville's new TraPac Container Terminal. The cranes had seven feet of clearance under the bridge.

The cranes were manufactured in Japan and transported aboard the Dock Express 10, operated by Dockwise, through the Panama Canal to Jacksonville. The new cranes will be used to service container vessels that will begin using the TraPac Container Terminal now under construction. The terminal is scheduled to open in January 2009.
