Jacksonville port credit rating remains strong

Jacksonville port credit rating remains strong Two of the top companies for financial ratings have given the Port of Jacksonville among the highest ratings available for seaports, the Jacksonville Port Authority said Friday.
   The port received an 'A' rating from Fitch Ratings and an 'A2' rating from Moody's Investors Services. The strong ratings were based on the port's overall financial health and its competitive position as a container port, which will strengthen with the development of two major container terminals being developed for Asia trade carriers Mitsui O.S.K. Line and Hanjin Shipping.
   'This strong rating is indicative of our board of directors' commitment to focus on the long-term financial health of our organization by way of our strategic plan,' said Ron Baker, the port's deputy executive director and chief financial officer. 'This is an excellent endorsement from two of the premier rating agencies in the country.'
